Amy Lou - fine art

Like most artists i have grown up constantly drawing and painting. I have no 'formal' qualifications -just an pure enjoyment of creating and losing myself in my work.

The natural world is my playground, I find a deep energy in being in the outdoors particularly coats and forests. I use this energy in my work to bring a new way of seeing what is around us. I am passionate about learning about native (and sometimes foreign) plants to extend my knowledge. I enjoy long walks and often take twice as long as I should as I am constantly stopping to take photos of ‘interesting trees’ (I am fortunate to have a very patient partner).

The colours I see around me can be quite unique and often unconventional. I like to enhance the shapes and depths of the landscapes and flora I capture. I hope to create a work that the viewer wants to reach out and explore for themselves.

Since picking my brushes up again 6 years ago my style has continued to evolve. After many struggles I have found a rhythm and a style that I am ready to share with the world. I hope my work has a unique feeling and experience for each viewer, and that this, in turn, allows them to look at the world around them in a new way.
